Branda is source-available, not open source. You may use it privately and for evaluation, but commercial use and redistribution require prior written permission from MPOWR IT GmbH.

This license applies to the Branda software — including the branda-cli command-line tool, the Branda status bar app, their source code, documentation, and release artifacts (the "Software").

1. Permitted use​

Subject to the conditions below, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, royalty-free license to:

  1. download, install, and use the Software for personal, educational, or evaluation purposes;
  2. clone, build, and run the Software from source for the same purposes;
  3. modify the Software for the sole purpose of proposing contributions back to the official Branda repository (e.g. via pull requests).

2. Restrictions​

Without prior written permission from the copyright holder, you may not:

  1. Commercial use — use the Software, in whole or in part, for any commercial purpose, including but not limited to selling it, offering it as or within a paid product or service, or using it in the course of paid work for clients or employers;
  2. Redistribution — distribute, publish, sublicense, host, mirror, or otherwise make available the Software or any modified or derivative version of it to any third party, whether free of charge or not, except for submitting contributions as permitted in Section 1.3;
  3. remove or alter any copyright, license, or attribution notices.

3. Contributions​

By submitting a contribution (e.g. a pull request) to the Branda repository, you grant the copyright holder a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use, modify, sublicense, and distribute your contribution as part of the Software under any terms, and you confirm that you have the right to grant this license.

4. Your data​

This license does not grant MPOWR IT GmbH any rights to the brand information you store with the Software. Your data remains yours.

5. Termination​

This license terminates automatically if you breach any of its terms. Upon termination you must cease all use of the Software and destroy all copies in your possession.

6. Disclaimer of warranty and limitation of liability​

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
